We believe we have established a lead over our competitors by offering lead-free versions of all its grades ahead of the 2015 voluntary commitment to phase out the use of lead stabilisers in PVC compounds. In recent months we have focussed on creating several new injection moulding and extrusion materials, for both flexible and rigid application areas.

Offering “simple solutions to surface hygiene” the Ducavin ABC range of PVC compounds has been developed in partnership with SteriTouch™ and incorporates this company's antimicrobial technology. These compounds reduce the growth of harmful organisms such as bacteria, mould and fungi, while remaining entirely safe for sensitive applications. A comprehensive development program has resulted in an extensive portfolio of both rigid and flexible antibacterial PVC compounds. All the materials have been independently tested and proven to meet the necessary criteria and are available now.

Ducavin ABC rigid PVC compounds include high impact, UV resistant, standard and easy-flow moulding, general purpose and profile extrusion products. The Ducavin ABC flexible PVC compound range consists of conventionally plasticised and phthalate-free anti-microbial materials, including products designed for antifungal, flame retardant and non-marring applications. Both product lines are available in clear or opaque as standard and custom colours can be formulated upon request.

Lead-free versions of all grades are now available.

Recently introduced materials include:

• Ducafreeze, a high performance freeze compound that uses new generation stabiliser technology with elevated temperature resistance, making it suitable for use as a freeze or purge compound in rigid and flexible PVC materials across a wide range of applications.
  
  
• Two new nitrile PVC gasket compounds with attractive cost performance profiles aimed at co-extrusion sealing applications in the PVC window systems. Branded Ducaseal, these PVC/nbr materials are suitable for static and dynamic applications. Both compounds have been developed for ease of processing on co-extrusion and post co-extrusion processes.
  
  
• NTC (negative temperature coefficient) PVCP extrusion compounds, which are able to sense ‘hot spots’ in electrical wiring and intumescent grades that expand and char to reduce the spread of smoke and heat around doors.
  
  
• A tailor made compound that stops clear PVC bottles turning cloudy when exposed to pine oil enabling the product to be safely used in a wide variety of packaging applications.
